Arsenal Cape Town
It all started that night at Anfield on 26 May 1989
Welcome to Arsenal Cape Town! If you’re anything like me, you probably bleed red and white—and no, I’m not talking about a medical condition. My love for Arsenal kicked off way back on 26 May 1989—the night we stole the title at Anfield in the dying moments. That iconic Michael Thomas goal? Yeah, it was like a fireworks show for my footballing heart, and from that moment on, I was hooked. I’ve been on this rollercoaster of a journey ever since, screaming at the TV during matches (because that definitely helps), riding the highs of every win, and suffering the gut-wrenching lows.
Being a Gooner in Cape Town, though, brings its own unique flavor. You don’t just find Arsenal fans on every corner, which is why I wanted to create a space for us all to come together. It’s like our own little Gunners family right here at the southern tip of Africa. Whether you’ve been passionately supporting the team since the George Graham days or you’re new to the magic of Arsenal (don’t worry, you’ll soon understand the stress), this site is for all of us.
Here, we talk tactics, debate transfers, share in the heartbreak (oh, those penalty shootouts!), and celebrate the good times together. And let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than shouting “Come on, you Gunners!” at the top of your lungs, knowing you’re not alone.
So, grab a coffee (or a pint, we’re flexible), and let’s keep the Arsenal spirit alive here in Cape Town!
