Arsenal will be looking to make it three wins out of three when they travel to Bournemouth on Saturday.
Bournemouth remains an unknown factor this season. They impressed on their return to the Premier League, recording a 2-0 win over Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa on the opening weekend. But they came crashing down to earth with a bump a week later, however, hammered 0-4 by Manchester City.
Arsenal should not be reading too much into that last result. As the pundits will point out, there are no easy games in the Premier League so the Gunners should enter this match with the same intensity they showed in their opening two matches.
Bournemouth have only ever beaten Arsenal once over the sides’ 10 Premier League clashes – a 2-1 success in January 2018. But they did hold the Gunners to a 1-1 draw when the pair last met at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League in December 2019.
Scott Parker’s side will have much to play for. They secured a return to the top flight by finishing second in the Championship last season behind Fulham, and surviving in the Premier League will be their main objective for the campaign. And they have a tough run coming up, facing Liverpool (at Anfield) and Wolves over the next League weeks, with an EFL Cup clash away to Norwich City next Tuesday. So Saturday’s match should be a good one.
