Crystal Palace 0 – 2 Arsenal, William Saliba Man of the Match

With the launch of the Amazon All or nothing documentary, Arsenal fans were positive and confident about taking on a difficult Crystal Palace team away at Selhurst Park.

We didn’t bottle it this season, this is what “Trust the process is about.”

We looked very well balanced even when put under pressure our defence stood tall.

The biggest positive was William Saliba. He cost Arsenal 25m in 2019 and only made his premier league debut on Friday, he was amazing and deserved his motm award. his technical ability is way ahead of his tender age of 21, he showed calmness and speed, and after the game, VVD followed him on Instagram.

Arsenal fans will also need to control their emotions when it comes to Saliba, he is young, and young players have ups and down more frequently. So when he has a bad day we as fans need to be behind him and help him through those hard times.

Our biggest shortfall at the moment is at full-back, Ben White even though he did an ok job there on Friday he is not a right-back. Zaha is one of the toughest wingers to come up against and I think Ben did a very good job keeping him at bay.

Zincheko also had a very good game, with some misplaced passes that were surprising, there are some things he does with the ball that Tierney can’t, that is only good that we have 2 players with their talent and skill in one position.

Ramsdale had a moment that could have cost us. I think he sometimes tries too hard and he messes up. After that blunder, he got his head back into the game and made two outrageous saves.

There are things we can improve on. We need to kill teams off. We sat back a little after going a goal up, which is the mindset that got us in trouble last season. Our players need to be more ruthless in front of goal, for example, Odegaard had a few chances he squandered.

We are not at the level or have that fear about us like City or Liverpool, but we slowly getting there. This young Arsenal team will be a nightmare to play against. Good defence, running off the ball, our fast, high press.

We still need to do some business in the transfer market, a right back should be one of them and we need to get the deal with Tielemans done. We need a better option than Pepe to rotate Saka and Sambi is not ready to take over from Granit in midfield.

Crystal Palace is one of the hardest places to go and get a result, other teams will go there and get battered. In context our result there is even better if you see that Liverpool dropped two points away to Fulham and United lost at home to Brighton.

Our next game is Leicester, Maddison might be moving to Newcastle, Tielemans wants to move to Arsenal, they are a mess at the moment which makes them dangerous, we will need a big performance for our first home game.
