Hey Arsenal fans, it’s that time again! We’ve got a big match against Newcastle United coming up and let’s just say, we’re feeling pretty confident. After all, no one has been able to beat us at Emirates Stadium this season. And let’s not forget, Newcastle hasn’t taken three points from their visits to N5 since 2010, lost in each of their past 11 visits, and haven’t scored away from home against us since 2014. But don’t get too complacent, this Newcastle team is different. They’re led by Eddie Howe and are looking to break a club record by going 13 top-flight games unbeaten for the first time ever.
Since Howe’s appointment towards the end of 2021, Newcastle has undergone a transformation. They won none of their first 14 games last season, but under Howe’s leadership, they won 12 of their final 18 matches and ended the campaign in 11th place. This season, they’ve continued that form, starting with one win, five draws, and one defeat – a controversial loss to Liverpool. But since October, they’ve won nine of their 11 league matches and progressed to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. All thanks to the red-hot Miguel Almiron and his goals.
So, it’s not going to be an easy match, but we’ve got this. Mikel Arteta has done an incredible job leading our team and we’ll be playing at home in front of our crowd. And let’s not forget, we’ve got some talented players on our side too. Nick Pope has improved his distribution over the season and Sven Botman has been impressive at the back alongside Fabian Schar. Kieran Trippier has been outstanding at right-back, not just with his crossing and set-pieces, but also his long-range passing. And let’s not forget Bruno Guimaraes, who can break up play and build attacks, and Sean Longstaff, who fills in when Guimaraes pushes forward.
So, let’s show Newcastle what we’re made of and bring home another win. And don’t forget, make sure to head to the Arsenal Cape Town website to add your predictions for the match here. COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
